DELHI RIOTS: Muslim homes were targeted and burnt
The northeast Delhi riots or the 2020 Delhi violence began in the city of the Jaffrabad area of East Delhi on the night of 23 February 2020 and caused the death of more than 49 people, more than 200 are injured and most of them are Muslims. The properties of Muslims are destroyed and four mosques are destroyed.
Under the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 Bharatiya Janata party leader Kapil Mishra demanded the Delhi police to clear the roads that are occupied by the protestors.
Hindu nationalist mobs destroyed Muslim properties and mosque they were carrying a saffron flag and were shouting “Jai Shri Ram”. These riots continued for several days. There was wide destruction of properties that belongs to Muslims moreover mosques were burnt, the temple was damaged and several schools, shops, houses, vehicles were destroyed.
In this violence, both Muslims and Hindus were affected. Three days of the violence no action was taken by the police. After three days Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi made an appeal for peace on Twitter. Police had registered 12FIR and arrested more than 600 individuals that were involved in violence.
Mohammad Munazir one of the citizens his house was looted by the Hindus.
Mohammad Ejaz is a 32-year-old Muslim he lives in the street of Khajuri Khas he said that he would never return to India. More than 100 Muslims moved to other cities and they said they will never return. It was one of the deadliest events in the decade in which Muslims were beaten up by the Hindus nationalist and police were not taking any action.
