SAN FRANCISCO: Facebook-owned mobile application Instagram users’ accounts are at increased risk of being hacked.

According to international media reports, thousands of Instagram users received text messages to change their passwords this week.

Technology experts say a group is trying to hack users’ accounts. It also came to light that the users who followed that message lost their accounts. Users say that an attempt is being made to hack IDs by committing fraud through text messages.

Technology experts advise users to immediately access their account if they receive a password change message and change the password as soon as possible to keep it private for a few hours.

Instagram has not yet commented on the matter. Some users believe that hackers took advantage of the changes made by Instagram and gained access to the accounts of hundreds of users.

Remember that Instagram does not send a password change message but an email.
